Kicker Ranking

Class of 2017

Broner's recently attended the 2017 Senior Challenge in Atlanta, GA. His field goal charting session of camp stood out going 7 out of 10. He has developed into a very solid collegiate field goal and kickoff prospect. He had an excellent day charting at the Winter Showcase in 2016 by making 6 field goals and averaging 66 yards per kickoff. His leg looks stronger and his technique has improved since this summer. Broner recently attended the 2016 Kohl's NSC. He showed improved leg strength and was able to hit multiple 70+ yard KO's.

Dear Coach,

I‘m currently a Senior at the Landon School, Bethesda, Maryland and an honors student with a 90/100 GPA and the President of the China Roundtable of Washington, D.C..  My intended major in college is in Chinese Language (Mandarin) and business/economics.  This past summer, I attended the Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy for a month long Chinese-Only (no English spoken, no internet and no e-mail) intensive language program.

As a U.S. Soccer Development Academy full time player for the past 5 years with the Baltimore Bays and D.C. United, I’ve been training and playing soccer at the highest level.  The USSDA forbids playing soccer anywhere but the Academy and my school requires that we play an athletic sport.  So, I began placekicking (and punting only very recently at the conclusion of this Fall’s football season) as a freshman.  I’ve practice during the week on the football field, then 2 hours to soccer practice, practiced soccer for 2 hours and then home for another hour. During my academically demanding junior year, in the middle of Junior season, I made the command decision to focus on football and walked off the soccer pitch.

Junior season I was 4 of 5 for field goal attempts, good from 45, 28, 27, and 22 yards. I was 31 of 33 PATS, and on kick offs Touchbacks: 12/26 (26 deep kicks and the rest were squibs or mortars) with an average of 58 yards.  Spending anytime in the weight room is frowned upon in soccer.  Now that I’m lifting and working with a dedicated kicking coach, I believe that I can really begin to build on my “natural abilities” honed in 11+ years of kicking the soccer ball.  This past senior season I put on 20 pounds of muscle in the weight room and begun working with Brad Craddock, Univeristy of Maryland '16 and Lou Groza Award winner.  I've added 10 yards to my kick offs averaging above 65 yards per kick off and increased my FG range considerably.  My best is yet to come.

Sincerely, Aaron Broner, ’17 Landon School
