I have been raised with the principle of family first. My family supports each other in all our endeavors. I have learned in my upbringing that anything is achievable with hard work and an ambitious, competitive attitude! I have worked hard my whole life in everything I do from academics to Boy Scouts to athletics. I always strive to be the best I can be at everything I do.

I recently achieved the highest honor given in Boy Scouts; the rank of Eagle Scout. I am 16 years old at the time of writing this, which gives me enough time to continue to earn as many as 7 Eagle Palms before I turn 18. Earning the Eagle Scout Award is a rare achievement in itself, but to earn one or more Palms goes even further.

I have been playing multiple competitive sports since the age of 5. I feel that my diverse athletic background affords me well rounded physical and mental abilities. I was a Gymnast, played Travel Baseball, Comp-Soccer, ran Track and Cross-Country, and continue to play Football, Volleyball and Rugby. Rugby is one sport that has allowed me to hone my Football kicking skills, considering the extreme angles and situations I’m often faced with when kicking conversion kicks, or kicks to touch.

I have always targeted higher level and advanced course study in school. I am eager to learn and often debate with my family on subjects such as politics, history and the environment. By the time I graduate High School I will have taken four AP courses. I have quite enjoyed the courses I have taken thus far, and look forward to my senior year AP courses!

My Family, my scouting experience, academic studies and my athletics have helped me to be a good citizen who will do anything from holding a door for someone to performing an Eagle Service Project. My experiences have shaped who I am, and help to remind me every day of what is important, as well as making me a better Son, Brother, Friend, Teammate and Person as a whole. My life experience has made reaching my goals not just easier, but more fun. I enjoy the process and journey required to reach my goals and to perform at the highest level, it just wouldn’t be fun if I didn’t have to work for my achievements or had them simply handed to me!

My current ambitions for the future are to achieve a scholarship to a good College for kicking and punting, where I want to study environmental science and geology. The reason I want to study environmental science is because I love the outdoors and would love to study the natural world around me. My experiences have also encouraged me to want to volunteer my time to the community during and after college.

Thank you for your consideration,

Caden Almer
