    Kohl's Comments

Sumner competed at the 2020 Kohl's National Scholarship Camp. He charted 21 field goal points in the same conditions as a majority of the best kickers in the country. He also charted a good portion of his kickoffs in the mid to high sixties. With more work, he will gain more hang time on his punts by putting his hips up and through the ball. He also competed in the 2020 June Showcase Series and had one of the more impressive charting portions in the country on field goals with 12 points out of 15. He is a very talented young prospect who has great command of body. We expect some big things this fall because Sumner has the talent required to be dominant as a specialist.

    Athlete Bio

Being named Player of the Year by the press-box and scoring 100% of my extra points and field goals my junior year were the highlights of my first year of varsity football. After having kicked only one year for the Darlington High Football team, I gained a lot of self confidence. I began to form into a student athlete who always has his academics and athletics in check. I continue to work every day to be a student athlete who is capable of place kicking and/or punting at the collegiate level.

During the one year that I played football in high school, I was fortunate enough to be a part of a great team of athletes and coaches. We had an undefeated season with nine wins and zero losses, but unfortunately lost in the second round of the playoffs. Through this, I learned the value of teamwork and commitment to doing something that you love. I am looking for a college program that is first and foremost academically fitting but also athletically fitting. I believe I have not only the talent to compete at the collegiate level, but also the commitment to be successful as a student and athlete. I have the work ethic and leadership skills to make an impact almost immediately.
