Nathan Schiesl (2025)
I am an All-State kicker who also punts at Wahlert Catholic High School in Dubuque, Iowa. My teammates and I just earned the State Championship. It was a historic season; 13-0 and first football State Championship in school history!
I thought I would try punting this year. At my first Kohl’s showcase ranking event [Dec 2024], I was designated 4.5 stars for both kicking and for punting. Ranked #50 in Punting.
Innovative. Driven. Resilient. Disciplined. Confidently and true to self, these traits have been my foundation athletically and academically.
In football, as a sophomore, I was honored to be chosen as a Team Captain for the JV football team – playing running back, defensive line and special teams. Following each game, I would quickly change my uniform and suit up to kick-off the varsity game. Unfortunately, I was not able to play football my junior year due to injury. However, while sidelined, I used this opportunity to make a positive impact by supporting, coaching, and mentoring fellow teammates to take on the kicking responsibilities. For my senior season, I made the decision to specialize and focus on kicking and to try punting. The decision positively impacted our historic football season.
In soccer, I was selected to play on the U14 Iowa Soccer Olympic Developmental Program (ODP) Team in 2020. As a junior – and 3-year varsity letter winner - I was chosen as a Team Captain for the varsity team. Now as a senior, I am looking forward to further mentoring the underclassman, enhancing the positive culture, and leading the 2025 varsity soccer team.
Academically, in addition to my high school courses, I wake at 4:30am to intern at John Deere before my high school courses; full-time last summer and 24 hours weekly during the school year. It’s been an incredible opportunity!
After a break-out senior season of kicking and punting - I'm not even at my best yet!
