    Kohl's Comments

Jones recently competed at the 2019 Kohl's Future Stars Invitational at IMG. He displayed improved confidence in both his field goal kicking and more specifically his punting. He has good power and with continued focus on his contact will develop into a nice combo prospect. Jones attended the Texas Showcase camp in December of 2018. He has a tall athletic frame that once he makes some gains in the weight room he will be able to create more energy into the football.

    Athlete Bio

I am an entering senior at Rivercrest High School in Wilson, Arkansas (graduating class of 2020), and, up to this point in my life, I had always been a baseball guy who happened to play football. My extra time and money were spent on baseball equipment and training, and I truly thought that I would continue to play baseball throughout college. I did not step up my freshman year to play senior high football with a playoffs bound team because of my small frame at the time; however, my coach convinced my mother to allow me to try to be a specialist. In May 2018, I attended my first kicking/punting training at my coach's urging and had my first encounter with Kohl's Professional Camps. This first encounter allowed me to honestly assess my raw talent, and after this first camp I concluded a baseball player I would remain.

In August, I became the starting kicker for our football team. People began to compliment my kicking/punting skills. I continued to hone my skill using the techniques taught to me by Kohl's Professional Camps, and for the first time in my life people began referring to me as "that kicker." My coach told me that, whether it was football or baseball, I was what they called "coachable," and my confidence grew. I attended my first Kohl's Showcase in Dallas, Texas, in December 2018 and came away with a 3.5-star rating and lowered aspirations. I was so intimidated that I refused to even attempt punting at the showcase, but my mother continued to remind the baseball player in me that God had given me a football gift that I was obviously supposed to do something with. (My stats during regular season play identified me as one of the top kickers in the state of Arkansas for PAT and FG.) At this point I had only trained to kick for five months, but I could consistently make 40-yard field goals with little effort. I was re-assessed in January as a 4-star kicker/punter. I continue to learn every single day. Entering my senior year, I know my skills will continue to grow with training. I still love baseball, but for the first time ever, I am a football player who plays baseball.
