With around 550 of the best kickers, punters, and long snappers from across America, the 2018 Under Armour Game Selections were awarded at the 2017 Kohl's Kicking National Scholarship Camp.
Kohl's CommentsFord recently attended the 2017 Southern Spring Showcase. He showed solid refinement in his technique on field goals by making 5 in the charting. He averaged nearly 58 yards per kick off and showed sound technique in his ball striking and consistency in his kickoff approach. He can continue to focus in on his leg strength improvement and focus on staying straight through contact during field goals. Controlling his hips should allow him to hit with improved accuracy.
Zach Ford has been the starting kicker at Calera High School since his freshman year, class of 2019. He missed the 1st game of the 2017-2018 season due to a hip flexor injury, and has been limited now in the 2nd and 3rd games. As a junior, he is kicking off of the ground and has enjoyed working out with Steven Clark, an All-American punter out of Auburn over the past summer. As a sophomore he had a 40-yard last second game winning field goal. He has been working on flexibility, leg speed and strength training in the off season. His high school coach, Andrew Zow, former QB for Alabama, awarded him the Special Teams MVP last year and says that he is one of his most consistent players.
