The NFL Draft has historically been a big day for Kohl's athletes, and the 2020 NFL Draft was no different. It provided a great opportunity for drafted and undrafted free agent specialists to compete for a starting job in the NFL.
With 6 specialists taken in the 2020 NFL Draft, 4 have previously attended Kohl's events. Drafted punters Braden Mann and Sterling Hofrichter have a deep history with Kohl's as both have been involved in a large amount of training and competition in high school and college with the staff. Along with Mann and Hofrichter, drafted kicker Samuel Sloman was able to train and compete this past year at the Kohl's College Elite Camp, which features a large number of Power 5 starters each year. Kicker Justin Rohrwasser had competed at camps extensively in the past as a high school athlete including a trip to the Kohl's National Underclassman Challenge where Mann, Hofrichter, and Sloman had also attended.
Numerous prospects are heading to mini camps and have signed deals with NFL teams post-draft. In previous years, countless undrafted athletes have gone on to earn starting spots with teams. This should be fun to keep an eye on leading up to the NFL regular season.
In 2019, 66 Kohl's athletes were on NFL rosters for week 1 of the NFL Preseason while 45 went on to start in NFL regular season games. We're looking forward to the next crop of athletes in the 2020 season!
In the weeks to come undrafted free agents and regular free agents will continue to sign with NFL teams and earn mini camp invitations. This list will continue to be updated as we hear of new UDFA deals.
